80: How a Trash Can Taught Me Boundaries

What do a stolen trash can, a Hobby Lobby moment, and a book on boundaries have in common? They all taught me the same lesson: courage shows up in the small, ordinary moments — often with shaking hands.

In this episode, I share the story of confronting my neighbor after she admitted to sending her son onto my property to take my trash can, and what it revealed about protecting my home, my son, and myself. I also share a Hobby Lobby story that brought me face-to-face with the same truth: boundaries have to be clear in order to be respected.

We’ll talk about:

  • How “beautiful rage” was born in me when my son was born
  • Why fear and shaking don’t mean you’re weak — they mean you’re human
  • The Law of Exposure from the book Boundaries and why unspoken limits don’t work
  • How everyday conflicts can be powerful practice grounds for courage

This isn’t about trash cans or checkout lines — it’s about reclaiming your voice, honoring your worth, and standing tall in the little moments that matter most.
